2024 Election Integrity Victory: PILF Forces Green Bay Clerk to Follow the Law

The Wisconsin Election Commission found City of Green Bay Clerk Celestine Jeffreys was ignoring mandatory Election Day Registration safeguards

PILF attorneys and investigators on the ground research in Wisconsin revealed that the City of Green Bay was not following a Wisconsin law put into place to root out voter fraud.

WISCONSIN LAW

In Wisconsin, voters can show up at the polls on Election Day to register to vote. This system is known as Election Day Registration or same-day registration. Unfortunately, this system trades election integrity for convenience. It is a vote now, verify later system.

Wisconsin enacted safeguards to catch people who seek to use Election Day Registration to cast a fraudulent ballot. City clerks are required to conduct an audit of the addresses used by voters who registered on Election Day. Any addresses where it appears voters do not live must be investigated and referred to county prosecutors.

PILF SPRINGS INTO ACTION

After research and visits to the city of Green Bay election office revealed Clerk Celestine Jeffreys was flagrantly ignoring these laws, PILF filed a complaint with the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC).

During the proceedings, Jeffreys admitted to WEC that she was not following the law because she had a “lack of awareness” about the law.

4 days before Election Day, WEC issued an order to force City of Green Bay Clerk Celestine Jeffreys to comply with the law and implement these Election Day Registration safeguards.

After the 2024 election, PILF will conduct another investigation to ensure election officials performed the mandatory audit of all addresses provided at the polls on Election Day and referred individuals who gave fake addresses to prosecutors.

BOTTOM LINE: Nobody should think they can use Election Day Registration to cast a fraudulent ballot and get away with it.
