PILF Launches Special Report Exposing Threats to Secret Ballot in Harris County, Texas

The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) has released a new investigative video featuring Communications Director Doug Blair, who traveled to Harris County, Texas, to uncover how voter privacy and the secret ballot are under serious threat.

In the video, Blair interviews three plaintiffs involved in PILF’s ongoing litigation against Harris County election officials: Caroline Kane, Bill Sommers, and Ken Zimmern. Their stories highlight how current practices in the county could compromise the privacy of voters. Blair also hits the streets to get candid reactions from local Texans about whether they believe their ballots are truly secret.

“The secret ballot is one of the most important protections in our electoral system,” said Blair. “When election officials fail to safeguard voter privacy, it opens the door to coercion, intimidation, and the erosion of public trust in our elections. Imagine your ballot is exposed and all of sudden you can’t access certain services based on who you voted for. It’s a disaster in the making.”

The report breaks down why the secret ballot is vital, how Harris County’s election practices put it at risk, and what PILF is doing to defend the right of every American to vote privately and without fear.
