Communications Associate
The Public Interest Legal Foundation, the nation’s most active public interest law firm focused on election law, voter fraud, and election integrity, seeks a Communications Associate to support media outreach and help share the organization’s work with the public.
This role focuses on supporting earned media efforts, drafting communications materials, and assisting with digital content that highlights PILF’s litigation and policy work.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career communications professional who enjoys writing, following the news, and learning how media outreach works in a fast-paced public policy environment.
The role is based in our office near the King Street Metro in historic Old Town Alexandria, VA. We offer a positive, collaborative workplace with room for professional growth
- Assist with pitching reporters and tracking media opportunities
- Build and maintain media lists
- Monitor media coverage and compile press clips
- Draft press releases, media advisories, and statements based on legal filings and court activity
- Help identify timely media opportunities related to PILF’s work
- Draft and schedule weekly social media posts highlighting PILF’s legal work and media coverage
- Use Canva to create simple graphics to accompany posts
- Maintain an organized archive of media assets and coverage
- Assist with email communications and newsletters
- 1–3 years of experience in communications, journalism, media relations, marketing, or a related field
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Interest in public policy, law, or government
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word)
- Experience with Canva and email marketing platforms (MailChimp or similar) is a plus
- Appreciation for American constitutional principles and the organization’s mission
- Candidates with backgrounds in journalism, communications, media relations, or marketing—and roles that require strong writing—are encouraged to apply.
