(Alexandria, VA) January 27, 2026 – On behalf of The Honorable Edwin Meese III, former Attorney General of the United States, the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) has submitted an amicus briefin support of Executive Order 14160 “Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship.” (Trump v Barbara, No. 25-365)
Former Attorney General Meese aims to provide the Court with a perspective grounded in legal and legislative history, constitutional originalism, and the principles of self-governance.
In addressing birthright citizenship, EO 14160 correctly implements the original meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment Citizenship Clause which states, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”
The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) is the nation’s only public interest law firm dedicated wholly to election integrity.
