(Alexandria, VA) April 20, 2026 – The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) reached a settlement with AZ Secretary of State Adrian Fontes for all Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC) “retraction” and “correction” reports identifying registrants wrongly removed from the voter rolls as deceased. (Public Interest Legal Foundation v. Fontes No. CV-25-02722)
“This settlement is a victory for Arizona voters,” said PILF President J. Christian Adams. “Nonpartisan access to voter roll maintenance procedures is federally mandated and one of the most efficient means of discovering potential errors.”
Under the settlement, Secretary Fontes agreed to produce all Deceased Retraction and Correction records — and will maintain access these records for up to two years. The reports reference voter roll removals of people incorrectly reported as deceased.
Attorneys for PILF were Joseph Nixon and Samuel Swanson working with local counsel Grant Frazier and Brennan A.R. Bowen of Frazier Law, PLCC, Scottsdale.
The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) is the nation’s only public interest law firm dedicated wholly to election integrity. The Foundation exists to assist states and others to aid the cause of election integrity and fight against lawlessness in American elections.
